Cashiers Designer Showhouse—sneak peek

WThe Cashiers Designer Showhouse is open for touring. This year’s house is set on 134 beautiful acres halfway between Highlands and Cashiers. The home is a 1840s farmhouse surrounded by manicured gardens and filled with old beams and wormy chestnut. Here’s a sneak peek of a few of the rooms—and designers—featured this year.

The second floor balcony, designed by Keven Hawkins, is a colorful, flower-filled porch set as the perfect place to start or end your day. Hawkins used the lat Ryan Gainey’s Gathered Garden china to set the welcoming table and featured the Ryan Gainey Hydrangea along with Frances Schultz’s book The Well Set Table about Mr. Gainey alongside the table.

The talented Patricia McLean designed a beautiful living room. The room, warm and welcoming, includes several ideas that you could incorporate into your home. I love the skirted console table topped with an antique mirror and cream ware. The coffee table displays personal things—just like we all have in our homes. Sally Johannessen, of Dovetail Antiques in Cashiers, designed an antique-filled guest room. The day bed is the perfect place to spend a restful afternoon after hiking or shopping. The desk is wonderful idea for any guest—just in case there is a little work to do.

Lisa, thanks so much for the “tour”! Poutingly, ATL life is keeping me from seeing all of this in person.
