A gazebo in my garden— yes, please! Gazebos are the perfect place for an alfresco meal with family or friends on a warm Spring or Summer evening or a hot steamy mug of coffee on a cool crisp Fall morning. I spotted this charming garden structure on a recent trip to Savannah, Georgia. Located at the end of a road near the water, it’s the perfect place to escape a busy day.
The gazebo’s features are elegant and easily copied for your own garden. Simple details like the columns, molding and rails add character. You could use rounded columns and simple flat rails like this one has or you could just use 6×6 or 8×8 post with rustic mountain laurel and barn wood for the rails and pickets. The openings are ‘windows’ to the surrounding gardens and water. All you need to add are a couple of benches and a table … and maybe a coat of paint. Enjoy!
