One of my favorite House Crush posts is getting an update today! The lovely homeowner shared a few before photos with me—and now I am sharing them with you!
The front changes are subtle, but simplify the entrance and dramatically improve the curb appeal of this charming home. The new design eliminated the Greek revival column and pediment detail and the the vent above the door and simplified the windows to complete the look.
The new front awning and gas lanterns create a dramatic entry—I love these details. The original front landscaping stayed mostly intact, but new large boxwood soften the lines. The copper gutters are the jewelry that completes this pretty picture.
The most amazing changes happened in the rear of the home. The design includes a center stone courtyard—made possible by bumping out the sides—with beautiful glass doors topped by a pergola. I love a pergola anytime! I know that the climbing vine in the planter will cover the pergola by summer.
A new large dormer breaks up the roof line beautifully. A new retaining wall and stone steps lead to a lawn and garden area with more parking.
Remember that cute little garden shed—have a look at the small changes that make such a huge impact on this little shed. I see a garden shed in my future!
Enjoy the tour!
