Best! Weekend! Ever!

ingredients for apple pie
Ready for pie? Back by popular request—Mile High Apple Pie!

WHow about a little idea to get your fabulous fall weekend off to a great start—bake an apple pie just because. Because … it is still apple season, it is cool and crisp outside and apple pie is delicious!

I love the recipe for apple pie in Martha Stewart’s Pies and Tarts cookbook. It uses lots of apples piled up to perfection—and then top it off with a little oatmeal, brown sugar and cinnamon crumble. Yummy!

Now grab those remaining apples, find the pie dish and get to it. As they say on the Great British Bake Off—”Ready, Set, Bake!”

Hoover heritage apples
Granny Smith and Hoover apples are crisp and a little tart—perfect!

Wolf River apples
Wolf River apples make great pies or the best apple sauce you ever tasted.
