What’s in a name? Does your house have a name? We are changing ours. Originally, the color of the house and two Brown Turkey fig trees that were on the property inspired us to chose a charming Anglophile-inspired appellation—Figgy Cottage!
The fig trees bordered the entrance in handmade terra-cotta pots—and guess what happened? The fig trees died after three years, and then one of the pots shattered when we moved them inside for the winter.
Fast forward to this Spring and Summer and the garden has grown in. New plants have flourished on the property. So—welcome to ‘Hydrangea Hill!’ We realized we have too many hydrangeas to ignore them anymore—77 at the last count and even more on the way. Wow, the new name was an obvious choice and tells the story of the garden’s evolution.
Take a look at a few of the hydrangeas in full bloom and maybe go plant one in your own garden.
