Sold! We sold the charming house at Harris Lake in Highlands, our most recent project, within days of listing. This was more of a renovation rather than a fixer-upper. We widened the halls, raised the ceilings everywhere and added wood to the walls in all the living areas and the master bedroom and bath. Our reimagining of the smallest bedroom into a new bathroom and laundry room was genius and added much-needed practicality to the space. We then remodeled the existing small bathroom into a hall half bath.
Our boldest move was to convert the one-car garage into a master bedroom, closet and bathroom with the addition of a few square feet. We also tore down a small porch and added new decking, a screened porch and a private master-bedroom porch in the back of the house overlooking a fire pit and a creek. We can’t take credit for the creek, but the inviting fire pit grounded with pea gravel was all us.
We installed new wide plank white oak floors to lighten up the space and replaced the five different floors that were original. We couldn’t have accomplished this utterly charming renovation without our partner Kyle McKim who helped make the project a delight. Highlands has no shortage of lovely, livable homes, but we are happy to add one more charmer to the list. Take a short look around and get ready for the next adventure—more is on the way.
