Here we go again update—Demo day’s are the BEST! The floor plan is coming to life and the walls are defining the new space. No new space has been added, things have just been opened up. Eliminating hall closets, moving the laundry to the opposite wall and raising the ceilings have made the space feel sooo much more inviting and fresh. I even wrote instructions on the walls just incase there were any questions on what stayed and what left in the dumpster. Dumpsters are a very Good Thing. Fake paneling, old insulation, carpet and several different floorings all have disappeared—love that. Now for the part that drives me nuts…electrical, plumbing and HVAC—you can’t see any of them and they eat the budget. I need the ‘pretty’ to start now. Shiplap, drywall, insulation and a new fireplace are in the works. The porch has been expanded and new doors are on the way. We are even adding a charming Dutch door on the front of the house and the screen doors are being covered with poplar bark for the screened porch.
