12 Welcoming Gates

Sea Island gates
Welcome to the Island.

Gates are more than just entries to our homes or gardens, they capture our attention, tell a story, inspire and welcome family and friends to our homes. I love a good gate!

On a recent trip I spotted so many great gates that I spent a whole day exploring and photographing them—grand iron entry gates, simple picket gates, Spanish gates, colorful gates and door gates. Gates play different roles in a landscapes, as well. Sometimes they are there to conceal the home or garden and provide privacy.

These glorious gates inspire me as I think about the privacy gate I need on the side garden. I already own a door that just might be my new Secret Garden entry!
