House Crush N° 31

house in the woods
Cottage in the woods

WCedar shakes, casement windows, and rustic rails—all nestled on the edge of the woods. Goldilocks would feel right at home. I have been ‘Crushing’ on this house for a while now but could never get a great photograph. The cottage was completely overgrown and had been for sale for a long time—I never understood that with such a perfect setting. The new owner has cleared the property of tons of brush and reclaimed the beautiful surrounding garden. The new red Adirondack chairs and umbrellas invite you onto the deck and lawn. The cottage retreats into the established landscape of rhododendrons and trees beautifully. Grab a cocktail and a blanket and enjoy the autumnal show of leaves.

Imagine owning such a charming little cottage.

The rustic laurel rail just adds to the cottage style.

Nestle into one of these red Adirondacks and relax.

screened porch on the mountain cottage
A screened porch is always a good idea–hope they add a few hydrangea or boxwood around the base.
