Marble and FIG

FShopping, shopping and more shopping—yes, I am having fun! The Master bathroom renovation is underway. We are making all the selections for marble, tile and fixtures as we speak.

I just spent the day in Asheville with my Architect, Keven Hawkins, making decisions. The shower will be fitted with slabs of Calcutta Gold marble and all of the tiles will also be Calcutta Gold.

The flooring will be done is the basket weave version of the same marble. We will have radiant heat floors and seats and a steam shower—Mr. P. had a steam shower in the last house and truly misses it.

The marble supplier said we made the fastest decision on record—we were in the warehouse for maybe two minutes! Four slabs of beautiful Calcutta Gold are on their way to Highlands.

Now what about “FIG” you say! This charming little restaurant was truly a delightful find. Fresh baked bread and olive oil were served along a refreshing glass of iced tea. The appetizer —fries served with parmesan and chives disappeared so fast I wasn’t able to get a photograph. I ordered the salmon that was grilled to perfection and served on fresh peas—with a hint of lemon and topped with micro greens. The dessert, well, simply the most wonderful bread pudding I have ever tasted.  The next time you visit Asheville stop in and judge for yourself—my suggestion is order the salmon.
