It all started with a little evening apple cider. I had just finished blowing the leaves off of the drive and porch, even cleared the neighbor’s drive and walk, with my new battery powered Stihl blower. I was oblivious to what was going on around me, but I should have noticed the ‘girls’, Janie and Daisy, staring at something in the back of the house—good dogs. I poured my cider and went to relax and enjoy the beautiful leaf display on the mountain. I needed a closer picture of the fall foliage when … OMG … the three bears arrived to have walnut appetizers in my back yard! Suddenly a car drove down the gravel road and the Mama bear stood up—over 6 feet tall—and Goldilocks hurried the girls in the house and plans to stay there … till Spring! Mr. ‘P’ says I need bear sensitivity training. You decide!

wow, that must have been some good cider that lured them your way! Amazing view…even if only enjoyed through a window. Stay safe
Jennifer, the bears have won the battle—i am terrified of them—bear sensitivity training needed. I turned and ran … totally wrong thing to do.

OMG Lissy!! But your photos are so beautiful… Beartiful. You be careful up there child.
Frances, thank you for noticing the photos. The cider one was taken before I spotted the three bears—I tried to get one of the bear standing up, but she turned to look at me and I hightailed it back into the house.

Yikes Lizzy I have friends whose homes have been broken into by bears in Tahoe…your husband is right…you may need to get more bear conscious!!!! They are cute from afar!!!
Cindy, I now have an air horn. The bears don’t like loud noises, so I found the noisiest horn I could find.
