English Garden Style

E English Garden Style is flourishing in the North Carolina mountains where a Master Gardener (who actually studied gardening in England) created this beautiful landscape. The setting is off, off, off the main road and protected by large trees and rocks. A waterfall marks the entry of the property and a river literally runs under part of the house—Frank Loyd Wright and Gertrude Jekyll would be so jealous.

The first building you see after you cross the rustic bridge is a small barn that has been converted to a guest house—and then your heart will skip a beat when you view the garden beyond. A stone path and rustic fencing draw you into the locust and laurel gazebo in the center of the garden. As you enter the gazebo, you see a covered swing and a small charming potting shed at the axes points. The bed are all symmetrically arranged in true English style. The beds are a little in need of more plant material now—but the ‘bones’ are all there. Enjoy the tour.
