What to do when your closet was installed backwards—rip it all out and start over! Late one evening I was trying to squeeze a blouse into this hot mess, and I snapped. I grabbed trash bags and donation bags and started taking everything out. The mystery drawers wouldn’t open because they hit the door and the door…I mean really, what’s the point of even having drawers? Those infamous drawers are too deep and were installed on one side of the closet…My side! The system is 8 inches off the ground, allowing shoes to be shoved into the bottomless pit and never seen again. There is even a top to this system one inch above the door frame, so nothing can be stored on the shelf that blocks the lights above—NO light to see the clothes! How did this happen…well, the installer blamed the maker and on down the line. Enough—let’s start over. I have a design, and all I need is a closet person. If anyone has a great system or closet maker please share them with me.

We bought a house a year ago that had the John Louis closet system installed in part of it. Not as luxe as the custom closet we left behind, but solid construction and easy to work with, and we just added shoe storage from the same maker and are very happy with it. Direct from them gives you the widest options, also available on Amazon.
Nancy, Thank you sooo very much! I just walked through the closet and shook my head. I am checking it out now.

You might hate your closet, but I LOVE the blue leopard carpeting! So cute.
Leslie, The same carpet is in my bedroom! It is a Stark carpet and comes in several colors.
